The Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador is the province’s only specialty referral centre and 24 hours full service emergency clinic. We provide expert care, right here. Dr. Bailey’s goal in opening VSCNL was that no pet owner would have to leave the province to get the care their pet needs. We have the only board-certified surgeon and radiologist in the province, a CT scanner, offer chemotherapy, run a canine blood donor program and have the only ICU that is fully staffed 24 hours a day. VSCNL is currently seeking Veterinary Technicians for full-time, permanent positons. The Veterinary Technicians will be required to provide support to VSCNL veterinarians by caring for animals and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health disorders. Job duties include handling and caring for animals undergoing treatment and surgery, collecting and analyzing samples and performing laboratory tests to assist the diagnosis of animal health problems, preparing surgical equipment, administering and monitoring anaesthetics and preparing and cleaning rooms before and after animal treatments, preparing and administering medication, treatments, and/or vaccines based on direction from a VSCNL veterinarian, providing wound and bandage care to animals, assisting clients with advice regarding animal care, and assisting veterinarians with animal dental care, as well as other duties as may be directed.

Applicants must have graduated from a Veterinary Technician program of study. Work experience as a Veterinary Technician is an asset.

Wage Range: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
