What is a veterinary radiologist?

A veterinary radiologist has undergone additional training that meets guidelines established by the American College of Veterinary Radiology. Once certified, they are considered to be specialists of all aspects of diagnostic imaging, including radiography (X-rays), ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine. They are able to evaluate imaging studies performed on large and small animals (including exotic patients). Veterinary radiologists support the veterinary hospital team to provide the best possible care for their patients, and are crucial in diagnosing illnesses and assessing traumatic injuries.
